Abigale Miller bio
Abigale Lee
Mills (born on the 21st of September 1965) was an American dance instructor,
choreographer and reality TV host. She was the creator of the Abby Lee Dance
Company, which was featured on the reality TV show Dance Moms for eight
seasons. On June 27, 2016, Miller pleaded guilty to criminal bankruptcy fraud.
Miller was sentenced for one and five years in federal prison and released on
March 27, 2018. She was diagnosed with lymphoma in April 2018. This is a type
of cancer that renders her unfit to walk. She now uses a wheelchair to move
around. Miller was raised in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a dancer and
learned from her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller, then 14,
was tasked with choreography and the coaching of one of her mother’s dance
competition teams. Miller eventually took over the company, changing its name
to Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America,
and was also a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February
1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012 due to the fact
that Miller's reality TV show Dance Moms was a "complete mistaken
portrayal of our teachers and students" and was damaging to the
profession.
